Bright Beginning, by Elaine Stephenson
Acrylic and Cut Wood on Panel
8 x 8 x 1.50 in
Elaine uses flowers to explore her relationship to femininity, reframing the idea of fragility as strength. Cutting flowers out of wood makes them stronger, even though they appear delicate. Light and shadow among the intricate shapes create new depths. The overlapping flowers reveal unexpected colors and patterns, alluding to the beautiful dualities found within ourselves.
